*** Watch VIDEO RECORDING and PRESENTATIONS here ***

Questions relative to the call and the presentations can be sent to us at the e-mail address jan22ict@ist.hu until 12:00 on the 22nd of January. The questions will be „structured” and forwarded to the speakers. Further questions can arrive until the end of the day – the answers will be published on our site within a few days following their receipt (or given in the presentation, if possible).

Technical details for the on-line infoday:

Our solution used for this conference combines the functionalities of a video- web-conferencing and IP-TV, and is actually in testing:
Video- web conferencing typically involves 2-10 participants, connected by ISDN or the Internet. The MCU functionality, which is necessary for creating the conference - might be supplied by a service provider (cost based or free).
IP-TV is a data broadcast of a show from a TV studio through an Internet service provider (who supplies the necessary bandwidth), and can be followed by large audience (typically more than 100)
We combined the two technical solutions offering the functionality of both technologies. The number of active participants (moderators, speakers etc.) might be about 10, (in this case, limited to 4). Some of them may use virtual backgrounds for their appearance. Our MCU functionality can handle both ISDN and web calls from these active participants. Using our IP-TV facility we broadcast the event live through the Internet, while saving a copy of the event for those who are not available at the time of the event but want to follow it at a later time. The number of live Internet participants can be several hundreds and the recording is accessible any time after the live session.

To watch the event

  • a media player (eg. Windows Media Player) is enough to watch the event – (the file will be streamed as wmv at 384 kbps).
  • To test if your PC and Internet connection are ready to follow the event: connect to the Internet and clicking on
http://video2.host.hu/host.wmv. You should see a video running with sound (sample video only).
  • The actual launching event will be webcast at:
    http://video2.host.hu/IST_live
    22 January 2006, between 14.00 and 16.30

We recommend that you follow presentations on your PC or on paper

To be an Active participant

practically, we are broadcasting the presentations and contributions (questions, answers) from several „IP places”. To become an active participant (active IP place) you need

  • to have a camera (with a firewire connection) and a microphone
  • activate the NetMeeting in your Windows (conf.exe) - you may use any software with similar functionalities if you are able to test it.
  • to send us the IP address of your PC in e-mail to ict22jan@ist.hu
  • to send us the core of your contribution (text or ppt) or question
  • to agree on the time to test your connection with us
  • to be available during the event (with PC/camera/mic) and ready to start your contribution when we give the start-sign.
Our IP address for Netmeeting during the live event (and schechuled tests) will be:
    195.228.252.103

Follow-up

The follow-up of this event (together with the presentations) will be published on our website.
